Who I admire

Steve Pemberton

Pemberton is one of my favourite actors at the minute. He's in a lot of TV series like Benidorm and White Chapel. I really like him because I didn't even realise it was the same actor from Benidorm when I watched White Chapel.

The Leauge of Gentleman is a group of 4 comedy writers and actors. Steve is probably the most famous one of them but they write dark creepy comedy with really over the top characters. Steve is unrecognisable in these roles from others, such as Benidorm.

Benidorm was one of my favourite programmes with Pemberton in, it actually took me a while to realise it was the same actor as the league of gentleman. It was also when I realised what a talented actor he was, and started to really like watching his roles.

White Chapel is a TV mini series about copy cat killers, Pemberton plays an odd ball who is very into the history of the killers, because they're normally notorious like Jack the Ripper. I really like his character because he's so different to his Benidorm character. The Benidorm character is common, crude and loud mouth funny dad whereas the White Chapel character is a nervous, frantic man who many people don't understand, which he plays both really well.

Psychoville is a very odd dark comedy series that Pemberton and his partner Reece Shearsmith co-wrote. I actually find the episodes quite hard to watch because they are so sinister and creepy. Pemberton plays the characters very well and again becomes unrecognisable to his past characters.

Pemberton was a founding member of 606 Theatre which did a lot of fringe performances in the mid 90s.

If I wanted to get in contact with Pemberton I would email his agent. I would prepare questions that even if quickly answered would give decent insight.
